Marwen

Marwen is a nonprofit providing free visual arts courses for Chicago’s youth, 6th-12th grade. They offer year-round youth-led exhibitions, art auctions, classes, workshops, and more.

 

The Project: 

  • Ongoing – 3 years and 8 month benchmark
  • 4 social media platform strategy – Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Linkedin 
  • Email strategy for 5 email lists (donors, alumni, current students, prospective students, partner organizations)
  • In-person & virtual event marketing strategy

The Challenge: 

To grow Marwen’s community engagement and build strong relationships that convert into event RSVPs, booking classes, re-engaging alumni, and diversifying donors online and offline. 

 

Strategies and Tactics: 

  • Promoted and increased brand recognition through content marketing, Facebook & Instagram paid advertising campaign, and strategic community engagement
  • Developed strategic content focused around the impact of Marwen on creative youth development by highlighting stories from artists, high school students, parents, and professionals from across Chicago
  • Built relationships with Marwen ambassadors (i.e students, teaching artists, and parents) to increase word-of-mouth marketing opportunities through user-generated content
  • Focused on creating highly engaging video content by following social media trends
  • Added a QR code that linked to their primary conversion goal on all of Marwen’s in-person opportunities and assets (outreach events, fundraisers, trade shows, workshops, welcome packets, etc.)
  • Integrated user-generated content into social media efforts

Results

  • Produce 800+ high-performing content pieces resulting in 89% blog traffic increase 
  • Grew Marwen’s social media follower growth by 61%
  • Reduced workload for Marwen’s teams by handling basic customer service and reputation management requests through social media
  • Increased average video views organically by 934%– from an average of 330 to 3,414 views per video on Instagram & Facebook
  • Maximized email strategy through targeted email lists, copywriting, and creating visually interactive content, resulting in increased open rate by 87% and CTR by 147%
